Purpose of the Job
We are seeking a professional CDL Driver to join our freight operations team. The ideal candidate will be safety-minded, compliant with all federal and state DOT regulations, and committed to delivering freight efficiently and on time. This role requires strict adherence to FMCSA guidelines, company policies, and a strong focus on customer service.
Job Description
- Safely operate commercial truck to transport freight to and from customer locations.
- Comply with all FMCSA, DOT, and company safety regulations, including Hours of Service (HOS).
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure equipment is in safe working condition.
- Maintain accurate logs, shipping documents, and electronic records as required.
- Adhere to assigned routes and schedules while ensuring timely delivery.
- Communicate professionally with dispatchers, customers, and other team members.
- Participate in company safety programs and ongoing compliance training.
Job Requirements - Experience and Education
- CDL must be renewed per state requirements (typically every 4–8 years).
- Drivers must self-certify interstate/intrastate status and update medical certifications as required.
- Adherence to Compliance, Safety, Accountability (CSA) program standards is mandatory.
Basic Eligibility Requirements:
- Minimum age of 21 years and over.
- Must hold a valid, unrestricted driver’s license and Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
- Proof of legal U.S. residency.
- Ability to read and speak English to understand traffic signs, communicate with the public, and respond to official inquiries.
Licensing & Training:
- Must obtain a Commercial Learner’s Permit (CLP) before CDL skills testing.
- Completion of Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) from an FMCSA-approved provider required.
- Endorsements (e.g., Hazmat, Tanker, Doubles/Triples) may be required based on company needs.
Medical & Physical Requirements:
- Must pass a DOT medical examination conducted by a certified medical examiner.
- Provide a valid Medical Examiner’s Certificate (MEC); electronic submission required by June 2025.
- Must meet physical qualifications including vision, hearing, cardiovascular, and neurological standards.
- Ongoing monitoring of health conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, or sleep apnea may apply.
Drug & Alcohol Compliance:
- Must comply with FMCSA Clearinghouse regulations.
- Drivers prohibited due to failed tests must complete the FMCSA Return-to-Duty process before eligibility.
- Participation in pre-employment, random, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion drug/alcohol testing required.
Driver Qualification File (DQF) Requirements:
Company will maintain a DQF including:
- Completed employment application
- Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
- Medical certification and test results
- Road test certificate or equivalent
- Drug and alcohol compliance documentation
