Job Overview:

The Operations and Facilities Manager will be responsible for all operational and facility requirements of the Gallymead depot. They will manage all staff and all operational processes and provide inspiring leadership to maintain high standards, efficiency and to drive the Road Freight strategy. Overview of the Main Function of the Post: To direct, manage and develop the customer service, transport and operational activities of the Gallymead Road, RoadFreight Depot. To maintain and develop service levels, in order to enhance continuous development of the Roadfreight product.

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

 

1. Responsible for the full end to end RoadFreight Operation in Gallymead Road – Transport, Admin and Warehouse

2. Manage and motivate the Roadfreight team members in Gallymead to act efficiently and compliantly with all processes

3. Continuous management and growth of RoadFreight network efficiency and profitability

4. Support business development for the depot and network, both domestically and internationally

5. Dealing with partner Aramex offices, the Pallet Network, customers, and sub-contractors

6. Act as point of escalation for all matters relating to Gallymead Road and resolve issues where necessary and to know when to escalate further in a timely manner as appropriate

7. Review working practices to improve efficiency

8. Review accruals, P&L and all matters commercial in support of Roadfreight Strategy

9. Maximise utilisation of depot-to-depot linehaul movements to ensure efficiency on trailer fill and cost effectiveness

10. Management of import, export and European trailers

11. Liaise with linehaul and operational teams to ensure correct information available

12. Manage compliance with customs regulations

13. Management of financials and ensuring accurate application of cost, internal charges and specials rates

14. Generation of key performance reports and documentation

15. Managing pool of sub-contractors and hauliers, across different countries, agreeing rates and ensuring compliance is adhered to

16. Liaising with Transport Departments in each depot to synergise fleet utilisation

17. Site wide ownership and accountability for facility - knowledge of building services, maintenance and property management In addition, must have the following to support during periods of holiday and absence:

18. Knowledge and experience of transport planning, buying and selling of part loads to compliment network

19. An understanding of how to manage the volumes moving through the network and adjustment of plans to align with shifts in volume

20. Have the ability to adapt and support the team to react to fluctuations and last-minute changes

21. Have an understanding of the coordination of the movement of freight to and from customer’s premises as required 22. Ability to support the accurate manifesting of goods in a timely manner Initials_______

23. Ensure the team manage outbound and inbound paperwork such as PODs, backing paperwork, invoices, customs docs etc.

24. Use and update the relevant Road Freight Transport Management Systems

1. In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed, the postholder may be required to perform other duties assigned by the Company from time to time. Subject to adequate experience and/or training.
