Purpose of the Job
To act as a business partner to the management and stakeholders of Asia in the East/Asia Pacific region, delivering effective and practical legal advice and reporting to the Regional Legal Director, Asia as well as the management of the group.
Job Description
- Support the Regional Legal Director in overseeing the legal matters in the Aramex entities in Asia, East/Asia Pacific.
- Drafting, reviewing, advising on and preparing commercial contracts as instructed by the Regional Legal Director.
- Provide effective and timely legal advice on various matters to the Regional Legal Director; including commercial, operational and employment matters.
- Raise legal and regulatory considerations at an early stage, and set realistic expectations for timelines and costs, while also providing practical solutions.
- Assist in providing legal support on transactions within the region or as otherwise instructed.
- Support the internal teams on any matters related to communication and/or negotiations with regulatory bodies and associations within the region in relation to licensing and regulatory laws affecting the core business of the group.
- Support dispute resolution in terms of business issues, potential or actual litigation in the region and maintain up-to-date records of all disputes/litigation cases.
- Research and resolve legal disputes through the analysis of relevant laws, argument development, evidence collection, and legal representation, and draft effective and practical legal opinions accordingly.
- Examine the legal issues related to new products and services to ensure legal compliance when launching major initiatives, projects or products/services in country in coordination with other legal team members and business stakeholders.
Job Requirements - Experience and Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B.).
- Between 6 to 7 years’ experience practicing law in a commercial or corporate setting, either in private practice or in an in-house position, preferably with experience in the transportation and logistics industry or sector.
- Fluent in Chinese (both written and spoken).
- In-depth knowledge of laws and regulations (including China laws) related to commercial transactions, including contract law, corporate law, intellectual property law, employment law, and other related areas.
- Good understanding of business and industry practices and should be able to provide legal advice that is aligned with the business objectives of their external and internal stakeholders.
- Working experience in China or on legal and advisory matters related to China and Chinese law is an advantage.
