Purpose of the Job

The Infrastructure Domain Architect is responsible for defining, governing, and continuously evolving the organization’s Infrastructure Architecture Domain, ensuring that infrastructure solutions across on‑premises, cloud, network, identity, and security domains are secure, scalable, resilient, cost‑effective, and aligned with Enterprise Architecture direction and business objectives.

Acting as the architectural authority for infrastructure within the infrastructure organization, this role translates enterprise‑level architecture principles and strategies into practical, implementable reference architectures, standards, and design patterns. The Infrastructure Domain Architect ensures architectural consistency, quality, and compliance across infrastructure initiatives, while reducing technical debt, risk, and fragmentation.

The role works in close partnership with Enterprise Architecture, Security, Application Architecture, and Delivery teams to support strategic initiatives such as cloud adoption, modernization, resilience, and platform standardization, while enabling reliable and efficient day‑to‑day infrastructure operations.

Job Description

Customer & Business Enablement

  • Ensure infrastructure architectures enable reliable, secure, and high‑performing digital services aligned with business and IT strategy.
  • Translate business and application requirements into fit‑for‑purpose infrastructure architecture designs.
  • Support resolution of complex infrastructure design challenges that impact service delivery, scalability, or resilience.
  • Act as a trusted infrastructure architecture advisor to stakeholders across Technology and the wider business.
Infrastructure Architecture & Design Authority
  • Define, own, and maintain infrastructure architecture standards, principles, and reference architectures in alignment with Enterprise Architecture guardrails.
  • Design and govern end‑to‑end infrastructure solutions covering compute, storage, networking, cloud platforms, identity, and security.
  • Review, validate, and approve infrastructure designs for projects, major changes, and transformation initiatives.
  • Ensure alignment between infrastructure architecture, application architecture, security requirements, and enterprise standards.
  • Maintain clear and up‑to‑date architecture documentation, diagrams, and design artifacts.
Technology Strategy & Roadmaps
  • Contribute to infrastructure technology strategy in partnership with Enterprise Architecture and Infrastructure leadership.
  • Develop and maintain domain‑level infrastructure architecture roadmaps covering cloud, data centers, networks, and core platforms.
  • Identify opportunities for modernization, consolidation, standardization, and simplification across the infrastructure landscape.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and assess their architectural impact, risks, and value to the organization.
Cloud, Hybrid & Platform Architecture
  • Define architecture patterns for public cloud, private cloud, and hybrid environments.
  • Establish reference designs for landing zones, connectivity, identity integration, security controls, and governance.
  • Ensure cloud and hybrid architectures follow best practices for resilience, security, scalability, and cost optimization.
  • Support vendor‑agnostic and multi‑cloud architectural decisions where required.
Security, Risk & Compliance
  • Embed security‑by‑design and compliance‑by‑default principles into all infrastructure architectures.
  • Ensure infrastructure designs comply with security policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
  • Partner with Security teams on secure reference architectures, risk assessments, and control definitions.
  • Identify architectural risks and technical debt, and drive mitigation strategies through design and standardization.
Operational Excellence & Resilience
  • Design infrastructure architectures that support high availability, disaster recovery, and business continuity.
  • Define architectural patterns for backup, recovery, monitoring, and observability.
  • Support root‑cause analysis for major incidents and drive long‑term architectural improvements.
  • Promote automation, Infrastructure‑as‑Code, and DevOps‑aligned architectural patterns to improve operational efficiency.

Job Requirements - Experience and Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 7 - 10 years of experience in infrastructure engineering, design, or architecture roles.
  • Strong hands‑on background across infrastructure technologies with an architectural mindset.
  • Proven experience designing and reviewing complex infrastructure solutions.
  • Solid understanding of:
    • Cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, OCI or equivalent)
    • Networking, security, identity, and access management
    • Virtualization, data centers, and hybrid environments
    • Infrastructure automation and IaC (Terraform, Ansible, ARM, CloudFormation, etc.)
  • Experience working with enterprise platforms (e.g., SAP landscapes, Microsoft ecosystems).
  • Strong experience with Infrastructure Transformation Projects and Cloud Migrations
  • Establish and govern infrastructure architecture standards, principles, and best practices.
  • Experience in implementing infra governance frameworks, quality assurance, and compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
