Purpose of the Job
Finance Manager plays a critical role in implementing and optimizing financial controls within PostNet South Africa. Finance Manager will drive financial efficiency, ensuring compliance, budget planning, and supporting the executive management team by offering insights and financial advice that will allow them to make the best business decisions for the company.
Job Description
- Oversee the entire accounting cycle, ensuring accurate and timely preparation of financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement)
- Manage the closing process at the end of each month/quarter/year.
- Ensure adherence to all relevant tax regulations and filing requirements.
- Coordinate external and internal audits.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, including processing invoices, payments, and collections.
- Reconcile bank statements and other financial accounts.
- Oversee payroll processing and ensure timely and accurate payment to employees.
- Maintain the general ledger, recording all financial transactions.
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard financial assets
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, assess financial health, and generate reports for management.
- Prepare budgets and forecasts to support financial planning and resource allocation.
- Participate in the development of financial policies and procedures.
- Provide financial analysis and insights to support strategic decision-making across the organization.
- Manage cost analysis and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Lead and motivate a team of Country controllers, delegating tasks and providing guidance.
- Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing feedback to team members
Job Requirements - Experience and Education
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Professional certification such as CFA/CPA or similar is a plus
- Minimum of 10+ years of experience in a related accounting role
- Proficient in accounting software and tools (e.g., general ledger, accounts payable/receivable software)
- Experience with financial statement preparation, closing procedures, and tax accounting.
- Ability to reconcile bank statements and other financial accounts
- Proficiency in MS Office
