JOB TITLE:                         Freight Forwarding Operations Manager

REPORTING TO:            Station Manager

MAIN LOCATION:         Aramex Houston, 4730 Consulate Plaza Drive, Suite 100, Houston, Texas, 77032. The postholder may be required to travel for the satisfactory performance of their duties and responsibilities.

JOB PURPOSE:

The Freight forwarding Operations Manager will be responsible for all operational activities and a team of freight forwarding professional, dealing with all services including air and ocean freight consolidation and forwarding, imports and exports, customs clearance, vendor consolidation, distribution, and other value-added services.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Processing shipments end-to-end from booking at origins to delivery for ocean, air and domestic shipments.
  • Communicate all expectations to carriers – paying extra attention to special requirements, ensuring the carrier can meet all requirements.
  • Receive and process various documents for accuracy, which requires operational knowledge of customers, carriers, and procedures.
  • Enter various operational/customer data in software systems, work to identify missing or potential operational or service concerns and communicate with appropriate groups as necessary to resolve.
  • Address various internal and external customer questions and concerns regarding shipments, billing, status, services, carriers, and other needs; deal with complex or escalated customer needs as appropriate.
  • Track orders and shipments and assist with tracing as needed.
  • Assist with running and summarizing operational reports and details; present information to co-workers or supervisors as needed.
  • Interface with airlines, ocean shipping, truck and related carriers to understand requirements.
  • Assist with preparing information required for quotes or address potential services; may provide more standard to complex quotes.
  • Analyze market data and trends and report creation.
  • Reporting team performance, supported by key data and sound, accurate analysis.
  • Develop working relationships with internal and external customers, assist with account management such as maintaining customer profiles, details and service needs.
  • Create and process invoices, review for operational accuracy, and work with customers on questions and payment.
  • Process improvement and efficiency.
  • Regular Customer visits and development of key stakeholder relationships.
  • Attend and contribute to quarterly business reviews with senior leadership.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Manage, train and hire additional members for the Operations Team.

 

EXPERIENCE:

  • Proven experience in international freight forwarding with ocean and air products.  
  • Must have high proficiency in Cargowise Operating System.
  • Understanding and following policies and procedures.
  • Proven ability to track and trace basic shipments or product.
  • Understanding of providers, carriers and services in related supply chain environments.
  • Ability to communicate effectively all potential concerns or delays.
  • Operating in a fast pace and changing environment.
  • Operating in both a team and individual contributor environment.
  • Communicating with co-workers to provide and receive direction.
  • Preparing basic reports, queries, and operational information.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.

**This role is fully On-Site, we will not be able to support Hybrid or Remote Working.

 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  1. In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed, the postholder may be required to perform other duties assigned by the Station Manager/Vice President/CEO from time to time.  Subject to adequate experience and/or training.
  2. To participate in the annual performance appraisal and objective setting scheme.
