Purpose of the Job
As a key member of the Finance leadership team, the Global Financial Controller will support the Chief Financial Officer and key business stakeholders to ensure financial stability and compliance with Aramex policy and procedures as well as local and international accounting standards. Primary purpose of this position is to facilitate business sustainability and growth while ensuring financial information is timely, accurate, complete and compliant with relevant accounting and taxation principles.
The Global Financial Controller works across multiple entities with diverse operations. Manages responsibilities through a Global Shared Services team as well as Regional Financial Controllers, Accountants and support staff. The role requires a hands-on approach with specific responsibilities for cash flow management, holding company accounting and statutory reporting with primary day-to-day responsibility for planning, implementing, managing and controlling all the financial-related activities. This will include direct responsibility for accounting, finance, tax, forecasting, strategic planning, deal analysis and negotiations.
Job Description
- Assists to set strategic direction for the network.
- Overall responsibility for management of the accounting records, evaluating and managing risk, ensuring compliance, publishing financial statements, monitoring expenditure and fore casting revenue.
- Implement a comprehensive reorganization plan for the finance department, incorporating multiple sequential phases aligned with the corporate structure and design of the company.
- Enhance finance efficiency and control by exploring opportunities for regional-level and global centralization.
- Oversee financial compliance matters including reporting, tax, external audit, intangibles management and budgeting.
- Provide direction and leadership in key external relationships including banking, leases, customers and suppliers.
- Evaluate and advise on the impact of long-term planning, introduce new programs, strategies and regulatory action.
- Provide advice relating to acquisitions, disposals and management of integration or divestment issues;
- Oversee working capital management.
- Oversee the security and control of company assets, ensuring a robust system of internal control is in place, including managing and reporting on business risks and issues.
- Improve systems and processes that drive the business to increased growth and profitability, maintaining close relationships with the business leadership team.
- Supervise and review the financial records of global franchise operations.
- Work closely with legal & Tax teams to re-design the company structure and try to reduce number of activate companies.
- Suggest opportunities for automations, synergies with the Group existing centralized functions such as but not limited to Treasury, Accounts Payables, Accounts Receivables Collection, Tax.
- Provide excellent leadership and management of Corporate Finance, measured by the effectiveness, engagement and business unit respect of the team.
- Build productive internal working relationships with stakeholders in order to understand their business operations and the financial information needs of end users.
- Manage relationships with others across the Group to achieve alignment in key business strategies and decisions;
- Manage the Group’s financial reporting obligations, with responsibility for preparation and lodgement of compliant full year and half year consolidated accounts.
- Collaborate, design, implement and review finance systems, policies and procedures to ensure continuous improvement and contemporary relevant practices.
- Oversee finance systems managing transaction flows from source through interfaces to general ledger.
- Ensure finance ledgers are maintained on a timely basis, are accurate and complete, and structured for the dual purpose of providing relevant information to internal users and meeting statutory obligations.
- Ensure reporting functions and responses to ad hoc requests for financial related information are appropriately delivered.
- Preparation of annual budgets for holding company entities.
- Perform the accounting function for holding company entities.
- Undertake a range of other activities within the Corporate Finance function, in conjunction with other Finance staff, such as maintenance of consolidated key finance activities (e.g. asset financing); governance/internal control activities; business administration or insurance management.
- Adhere to company deadlines for monthly financial reporting and annual audits.
- Address and resolve internal audit findings promptly and effectively.
- Ensure there is a successor for country controllers and a pool of talents to meet station needs.
Job Requirements - Experience and Education
- Member of Chartered Accountants.
- 15 years’ plus years of experience in a senior finance role.
- Desirable proficiency in SAP and previous engagement with multinational enterprises.
- Results driven orientation.
