Purpose of the Job
To supervise and manage end-to-end Sea Freight operations, ensuring timely and efficient shipment execution while maintaining high standards of customer service and compliance with local and international regulations. Act as a key point of contact for customers and coordinate effectively with shipping lines, agents, service providers, and internal stakeholders. Ensure competitive freight solutions and rates, monitor operational performance, support customer retention and business growth, and drive continuous improvement across Sea Freight operations.
Job Description
- Supervise and manage end-to-end Sea Freight operations, ensuring smooth and timely execution of shipments from origin to destination.
- Identify the appropriate type and quantity of equipment required based on shipment and customer requirements.
- Provide effective and competitive Sea Freight solutions based on customer needs.
- Act as a key point of contact for customers and maintain strong relationships to ensure customer satisfaction and retention.
- Handle Sea Freight enquiries, quotations, and operational coordination with local and international customers, agents, and partners.
- Coordinate with Sales and the Regional Pricing Desk on quotations, RFQs, projects, and tenders, and follow up on awarded and lost business.
- Negotiate competitive ad-hoc and contracted rates with shipping lines, carriers, agents, offices, and service providers.
- Monitor and manage relationships with shipping lines at station level to strengthen buying power and improve commercial competitiveness.
- Monitor P&L performance, job costing, profitability, and timely invoicing.
- Ensure operational and financial targets are achieved for assigned customers and business.
- Support customers with claims, payment issues, shipment delays, and other operational concerns, ensuring timely resolution.
- Coordinate effectively with internal departments and external stakeholders to ensure smooth shipment execution.
- Monitor shipment milestones and proactively address operational delays, exceptions, or service failures.
- Ensure customers are kept informed of shipment status, delays, and operational issues in a timely manner.
- Monitor and improve on-time delivery performance across Sea Freight trade lanes.
- Ensure 100% CargoWise adoption and accuracy of shipment milestones and system updates.
- Maintain accurate daily, weekly, and periodic operational and performance reports.
- Ensure compliance with company procedures, operational standards, and applicable local and international Sea Freight regulations.
- Supervise and support the Sea Freight operations team, providing guidance and ensuring consistent service quality and operational performance.
Job Requirements - Experience and Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in the Sea Freight Forwarding industry, preferably with supervisory or team-leading exposure.
- Strong knowledge of global trade lanes, shipping lines, Sea Freight solutions, and freight forwarding operations.
- Good understanding of local and international Sea Freight regulations and requirements.
- Proven experience in customer service and managing key business accounts.
- Experience in rate negotiation with shipping lines, carriers, agents, and service providers.
- Experience with CargoWise is preferred.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including professional email correspondence.
