Purpose of the Job

The Accounting Team Leader is responsible for supporting the financial operations of the business, with a key focus on managing the financial performance of the road freight product. This includes oversight of revenue, direct costs, and ensuring accurate financial reporting while maintaining strong financial controls. You will be responsible to coordinate and manage the work of accounting clerks. You perform a variety of regular and ad hoc accounting and financial reporting tasks, including report generation, analysis, and revision as required.

 

Role is located in Ballyboughal, co. Doublin and own transport is essential. 

Job Description

  • Manage the financial performance of the road freight product, including revenue and direct cost control
  • Monitor and analyse profitability, identifying risks and opportunities
  • Prepare and post journals, accruals, and prepayments
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
  • Support month-end close and reporting processes
  • Process and oversee accounts payable activities
  • Ensure accuracy of financial data within ERP systems (e.g., SAP)
  • Work closely with operational teams to ensure correct cost and revenue allocation
  • Support budgeting and forecasting for the road freight function
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and financial controls
  • Assist with audits and provide supporting documentation as required

Job Requirements - Experience and Education

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in accounts payable or a similar finance role preferably in the logistics and shipping industry
  • Strong organisational skills with good commercial awareness
  • Experience with SAP or other ERP systems desirable
  • People Management experience desirable
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Strong time management and prioritisation skills
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and MS Office
  • Flexible, adaptable, and a strong team player
