Purpose of the Job
The Senior Credit Officer is responsible for managing and overseeing the credit assessment and approval process for clients. This role involves evaluating creditworthiness, analyzing financial data, and mitigating credit risk while ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
Job Description
- Evaluate credit applications and analyze financial statements, credit reports, and other relevant data to determine creditworthiness.
- Develop and implement credit policies and procedures to minimize risk and optimize the credit approval process.
- Collaborate with sales and operations teams to understand client needs and provide credit solutions that support business objectives.
- Monitor and manage the credit portfolio, ensuring timely follow-up on overdue accounts and minimizing bad debt.
- Prepare detailed credit reports and present findings and recommendations to senior management.
- Conduct periodic reviews of existing credit limits and assess changes in clients’ financial conditions.
- Provide guidance and training to junior credit officers and other staff on credit assessment and risk management practices.
- Stay updated on industry trends, economic conditions, and regulatory changes affecting credit and risk management.
- Participate in meetings with clients to discuss credit terms and resolve any issues related to credit management.
- Assist in the development of credit risk models and tools to enhance decision-making processes
Job Requirements - Experience and Education
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field is required.
- A professional certification (e.g., CFA, CPA, or equivalent) is preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in credit analysis, risk management, or a related field, preferably in the logistics or financial services industry.
- Strong background in financial analysis and credit risk assessment.
