Purpose of the Job

The Lead SAP Business Analyst serves as the primary functional and business process expert within an assigned SAP domain, acting as the key interface between business stakeholders and the SAP Center of Excellence. The role is responsible for understanding business needs, analysing and improving business processes, translating requirements into scalable SAP solutions, and ensuring the successful delivery and ongoing support of SAP capabilities.

In addition to leading business analysis activities, the role provides advanced SAP functional configuration, production support, incident resolution, problem management, and continuous improvement across the assigned SAP domain. The Lead SAP Business Analyst partners closely with SAP Process Leads, Enterprise Architecture, SAP Basis, Development, Integration, Security, Infrastructure, Project Managers, and external implementation partners to deliver high-quality SAP solutions aligned with business objectives and SAP best practices.

Operations:

  • Build strong partnerships with business stakeholders and act as the primary functional advisor within the assigned SAP domain.
  • Lead business process discovery workshops, fit-to-standard assessments, and solution design sessions.
  • Analyse business requirements and translate them into functional specifications and SAP solution designs.
  • Identify opportunities to standardise, simplify, automate, and optimise business processes using SAP standard capabilities.
  • Configure SAP solutions within the assigned functional area in accordance with SAP best practices and Clean Core principles.
  • Perform advanced SAP configuration, testing, and validation of new functionality and enhancements.
  • Prepare functional specifications for developments, reports, interfaces, workflows, forms, and enhancements.
  • Collaborate with ABAP developers, Integration teams, SAP Basis, Security, and Enterprise Architecture to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Provide Level 2 and Level 3 application support for complex SAP incidents and service requests.
  • Investigate production issues, perform detailed root cause analysis, and implement permanent corrective actions.
  • Resolve complex application defects while ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
  • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end business activities where SAP application support is required.
  • Lead impact assessments for system changes, releases, upgrades, and projects.
  • Coordinate and execute unit testing, integration testing, regression testing, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
  • Support production deployments, cutover planning, and hypercare activities.
  • Ensure compliance with change management, release management, transport management, and ITIL service management processes.
  • Develop and maintain business process documentation, functional specifications, configuration documentation, knowledge articles, and operating procedures.
  • Monitor recurring issues and identify proactive improvement opportunities.
  • Support SAP implementations, acquisitions, divestitures, regional rollouts, and transformation programmes.
  • Promote adoption of SAP standard functionality while minimising unnecessary custom developments.
  • Contribute to SAP roadmap planning, business capability development, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate with SAP and implementation partners to resolve product issues and deliver enhancements.

Job Requirements - Experience and Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Master's degree is advantageous
  • 4-6 years of experience in SAP functional consulting, business analysis, or SAP application support.
  • Deep expertise in one or more SAP functional domains (FI/CO, SD, MM, PP, PM, EWM, TM, SuccessFactors, Ariba, IBP, QM, etc.).
  • Experience supporting SAP S/4HANA environments.
  • Strong experience gathering business requirements and translating them into SAP solutions.
  • Experience providing production support, incident management, and problem resolution.
  • Experience participating in SAP implementations, enhancements, upgrades, and transformation programmes.
