Purpose of the Job
The Courier Controller manages all financial processes related to Express, Domestic and Shop and Ship products ensuring accurate revenue recognition, cost management, margin control, forecasting, and budgeting. The role ensures that freight and logistics performance aligns with financial targets and operational KPIs.
Job Description
1. Revenue Recognition & Validation
- Ensure timely and accurate revenue recognition in compliance with corporate and accounting standards.
- Validate accruals, billing accuracy, and revenue leakages.
- Coordinate with operations to ensure complete and accurate shipment details.
- Coordinate with commercial to ensure validity and compliance with contractual agreement.
2. Cost & Margin Controlling
- Analyze costs, supplier invoices, outsource costs, Domestic Linehaul, Delivery Agents, and overhead allocations.
- Assess the cost structure and ground operating costs including agents and outlets and ensure proper coordination with operations to maximize profits while staying within company’s risk appetite.
- Analyze DOL Degree of Operating Leverage and coordinate plans with ops.
- Track margin performance at product, lane, customer, and route levels.
- Identify margin improvement opportunities through cost optimization and pricing support.
3. Budgeting, Forecasting & Reporting
- Lead budgeting and forecasting cycles for Courier related products.
- Produce monthly performance dashboards, KPIs, and variance analyses.
- Assess risks and opportunities and support leadership with insights.
4. Business Partnering
- Work closely with Operations manager, procurement, and commercial teams.
- Provide financial support for pricing decisions, tenders, routing changes, and supplier negotiations.
Job Requirements - Experience and Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Logistics, or related field.
- Professional certification (CMA, ACCA, CPA) is a plus.
- 8 years in finance, ideally in Courier operations .
- At least 3 years in a controlling or FP&A role.
- Strong knowledge of Couriers costing models.
- Solid understanding of revenue recognition principles and IFRS at large.
- Excellent analytical and financial modeling capabilities.
- Experience with cost allocation, route costing, and yield analysis.
- Advanced Excel, ERP systems (SAP/CW), and BI tools.
