Customs Invoicing Officer
Purpose of the Job
The Customs Invoicing Officer is responsible for managing and overseeing the invoicing process related to customs operations. This role involves ensuring compliance with customs regulations, accurate processing of invoices, and effective coordination with both internal teams and external stakeholders. The Customs Invoicing Officer plays a critical role in ensuring that all customs-related financial transactions are processed efficiently and in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
Job Description
- Prepare, review, and process customs-related invoices and documents in compliance with local and international regulations.
- Ensure accurate and timely invoicing for customs duties, taxes, and other related charges.
- Verify and reconcile invoices against customs declarations and shipment documents.
- Stay updated on changes in customs regulations and ensure all invoicing practices follow these regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of customs transactions and related financial documentation.
- Coordinate with customs authorities to resolve any discrepancies or issues related to invoicing.
- Generate reports on customs-related financial transactions and provide insights to the finance team.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports related to customs operations.
- Liaise with internal departments, such as logistics and procurement, to ensure accurate and timely processing of customs-related invoices.
- Communicate with external stakeholders, including customs brokers and freight forwarders, to resolve any invoicing issues or discrepancies.
- Assist in internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and information related to customs invoicing.
- Implement and maintain controls to ensure accuracy and integrity in customs invoicing processes.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements related to customs invoicing and contribute to the development of more efficient workflows.
- Provide recommendations for enhancing the accuracy and efficiency of the invoicing process.
Job Responsibilities - Experience and Education
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 2-3 years’ experience in customs invoicing, accounting, or finance roles, preferably within an international trade or logistics environment.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. SAP system) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Strong knowledge of customs regulations, procedures, and documentation requirements.
